An Indonesian Volcanic Stone Figure of Kumara, Central Java, 10th Century
Central Java, 10th Century
Kumara, the child god, sits on his peacock mount, grasping its long neck with his left hand. His right hand, bearing a boss, rests on his thigh. Behind his neck, a crescent moon rests against the nimbus, and on his chest lies a large medallion, suspended by a crossbelt around his neck.
